Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear medicine includes imaging studies that utilize radioactive material for diagnostic and therapeutic scans while evaluating the functions of certain organs. CNMT-certified nuclear medicine technologists are committed to providing excellent care. We use technology that allows quicker scans with reduced radiation exposure.

IAC sealGrandview Medical Center is accredited by IAC in nuclear cardiology. This accreditation demonstrates our commitment to providing quality patient care in nuclear cardiology. Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in the United States. On average, one American dies every 39 seconds of cardiac related disorders.

CT

Computed tomography (CT) creates a 3D image of bones and soft tissue using a 64-slice CT scanner. It is common to use contrast (dye) to highlight certain parts of the body. The contrast (dye) can be administered as a drink and/or through an IV (intravenous line).

Mammography

Mammography is specific to breast imaging, using radiation for diagnostic quality images.

MRI*

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) creates 3D images of the body by using strong magnetic waves. It is common to use contrast (dye) to highlight certain parts of the body. The contrast can be administered as a drink and/or through an IV (intravenous line). Grandview Medical Center uses a wide bore MRI machine.

X-ray

An X-ray uses a small amount of radiation to create diagnostic quality images and is commonly used for bone and joint evaluations and soft tissue in the chest and abdomen.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound (US) uses sound waves to create diagnostic quality images.

Positron Emission Tomography (PET/CT)

Positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scan uses a radioactive material injected and 3D images to see the body and functionality. Special instructions are needed to prepare for PET/CT scan. Contact the number below for more information.
